By harnessing the power of data, advancing our AI capabilities, and deeply investing in our people, we are preparing for a future that will redefine what’s possible in journey advertising.
Our work is guided by two beliefs: that the ability to execute is paramount to success and that we are only as good as our people. As we grow and transform, we are looking for team members (illumineers) who share our bias for speed, delivery over perfection, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Joining us now is a chance to be part of our transformation.
Who we need
Reporting to the CFO, we are hiring a Director of Finance. As our Director of Finance, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the financial strength, discipline, and scalability of illumin as we continue our next phase of growth. This role is responsible for overseeing financial planning, external reporting, treasury operations, and the design and maintenance of strong internal controls within a public company environment. As a trusted partner to senior leadership, you will bring deep technical expertise, sound judgement, and a hands-on leadership style to a high-growth, evolving organization. You will help ensure our financial foundation remains stable, compliant, and forward-looking, supporting informed decision-making, long-term sustainability, and operational excellence across the business.
This is an existing, full-time hybrid opportunity, working on Tuesdays and Thursdays on-site in our downtown Toronto office. Our headquarters are located within minutes of St. Andrew and Union subway stations.
What's in it for you
Strategic influence. You are currently a Senior Manager or Director ready to broaden your scope. This is an opportunity to stretch your leadership, technical depth, and strategic influence - spanning an ERP implementation, evolving IFRS requirements, enhanced cash forecasting, and leadership across a growing, international organization.
Impact and ownership. You want to operate in a public, high-growth environment where finance plays a critical role in governance, discipline, and execution. You will combine technical expertise with strategic judgment to strengthen our financial foundation and support long-term growth.
Professional growth. You want to step into a highly visible, second-in-command role within the finance organization, working as a trusted partner to the CFO. This is a hands-on leadership position with direct exposure to executive decision-making, public company reporting, treasury strategy, and capital structure.
How you will make an impact:
- Lead financial strategy and performance management. You will partner with senior management to embed financial discipline across the organization and enable strong performance against strategic, financial, and operational objectives. You will develop performance measures, recommend benchmarks, and calculate and issue financial and operating metrics that provide clear visibility into business results. You will analyze budget variances, identify significant issues, and deliver actionable insights to support informed decision-making.
- Own external reporting, technical accounting, and audit. You will lead the external reporting process, coordinating the preparation of all required public company regulatory filings, including external financial statements, Management’s Discussion and Analysis, and the Annual Information Form. You will stay current on IFRS accounting pronouncements, prepare technical accounting memos as required, and oversee the accounting for shareholders’ equity transactions, including share-based compensation. You will act as the primary liaison with external auditors throughout the annual audit cycle.
- Strengthen governance, controls, and financial processes. You will develop, test, and implement internal controls to assess the design and operating effectiveness of the internal control environment in alignment with governance, risk, and compliance requirements. You will streamline policies and procedures by effectively using systems, dashboards, and reporting tools to improve operational efficiency, control, and transparency.
- Drive planning, forecasting, and financial analysis. You will provide financial analysis to evaluate special projects, programs, and capital expenditures. You will continually enhance the planning and budgeting process by educating team members on the financial drivers that impact departmental budgets. You will forecast cash flows and facilitate forward-looking analysis to support management decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Lead treasury, liquidity, and capital management. You will manage daily cash positioning and forecasting to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations and growth. You will develop and maintain strong banking relationships, negotiate credit agreements, manage the company’s capital structure, and oversee the investment of excess cash in accordance with policy and risk objectives. You will execute day-to-day treasury activities, maintain credit facilities, monitor bank accounts, calculate interest and fees, and ensure compliance with bank covenants and reporting requirements. You will also support the closing of external financings, including debt and equity issuances.
- Ensure tax compliance and statutory remittances. You will assist with Canadian income and commodity tax compliance and prepare and file required government remittances, including corporate tax and GST/HST, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
What you bring:
- The credentials. You have a university degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance, and you hold a CA or CPA designation. Big Four public accounting firm experience is preferred.
- The experience. You bring progressive accounting experience, including within a public company environment and experience in a leadership role. You have direct experience liaising with the Toronto Stock Exchange and creating and managing budgets for a large, distributed organization. Experience supporting accounting for both Canadian and US entities is highly valued.
- The knowledge. You have strong technical accounting expertise under International Financial Reporting Standards and a deep understanding of public reporting compliance and regulatory requirements. You bring solid working knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks, as well as both Canadian and US tax systems. You have strong knowledge of fiscal management and responsibility, business finance, capital funding, contracts, and partnership structures.
- The leadership skills. You are known for your integrity, discretion, and accountability. You bring exceptional communication and collaboration skills, influence effectively across teams, and build trust quickly with leaders and stakeholders. You are highly analytical, solution-oriented, and bring a well-developed sense of diplomacy, including strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- The technical skills. You are highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with NetSuite or MS Dynamics, a treasury management system, and Solium is considered an asset. Exposure to implementing a new ERP system is also an asset.
